It is a good place for all seafood lovers. Tasty prepared every dish as you desired. We have only two of us, but we want to try a bit of everything. The lady responded with a sweet smile, saying:of course, as you wished.
We come here for special occasions and have enjoyed three years of visits now! We just love it here, and this visit we just enjoyed was even more exceptional than usual. A family run restaurant with heaps of warmth and personality, I cannot more highly recommend it. Thank you to the wonderful team who looked after us, Rezi, Arsia, Luke and Chef (& Owner) Gaz. The food was outstanding and a new menu so pop along and try it! We had quite a lot to eat and drink, and the prices are really incredibly good value considering the quality. The oysters were simply divine and from Cornwall, and each of our dishes were made with such care. Perfectly cooked! As I say a total must. Also worth noting they have a disabled loo for those with limited mobility, all on one floor. We'll see you again soon!
Very friendly staff who catered to our needs consistently. Never had an empty glass of wine! the atmosphere was excellent and the food was phenomenal. If you ever want a taste of Italian food; Portofino is your Italian home away from home.
The oysters were refreshing, sweet and absolutely delicious! I couldn’t believe I found such a fantastic restaurant here. The fish and chips were better than many traditional places. Everything was top-notch: the food, the service, and the atmosphere were all excellent. Highly recommended!
I haven’t had such a disappointing meal in a very long time. I started with a Peach Bellini, which, unfortunately, had none of the sweet peach flavour you’d expect — the peach purée was completely missing, and the drink was bitter instead of fruity I thought maybe it was a different recipe and didn’t say anything at that point. The real disaster started with the starters: oysters and fried calamari. The oysters were clearly not fresh — they had a bitter taste and an unpleasant smell, verging on spoiled. At £4.50 each, I expected them to be top quality. I’m a big fan of oysters and have had better ones at street markets for a fraction of the price. I mentioned this to the waiter, who kindly apologized — and I appreciated that the oysters weren’t included on the final bill. The calamari were fine, I ate them all. For the main course, I ordered the mushroom risotto, which was nearly inedible. It was excessively salty — as if the entire salt shaker had been emptied into it — and the rice was undercooked. Not al dente, just plainly undercooked and hard. In the end, I paid over £70 for a meal where I genuinely didn’t enjoy anything. It’s a shame because the restaurant has real potential — it’s in a beautiful location, and the interior design is lovely and well thought out. On a positive note, I must say that the waitstaff were very kind and professional, which softened the experience slightly. Perhaps the chef was simply having a bad day — but unfortunately, that was the day we chose to dine there.
